It was the Sixties -- a wild and crazy time, and I really got into the whole scene. All my friends were so happy for me, and all we did was party! It was a great time to be young. Everybody tried everything because everyone wanted to live every experience. It was amazing and I'll never regret it. Sure, I did a lot of stuff I wouldn't do today, but so many things were very different then. In those days there was no AIDS, and the music, well, what can I say? I'm a Deadhead. The blues scene in Chicago was really happenin', and the folk-rock scene was exceptional as well. I was really living it up. I not only attended all the incredible parties at the Chicago Mansion, but also was invited to other gatherings where I met lots of celebrities. I began to hang out in the folk-music bars of Chicago's Old Town, and in the wonderful blues clubs on the South Side, where I caught shows by Koko Taylor, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy and many others. I was totally into the music scene and fortunately, due to my Playmate status, I actually got to meet many of the performers I so adored...and party with them, too. Six or seven years after my Centerfold appearance, I was still hard at work with Playboy -- traveling, working conventions and appearing at every Big Ten and Big Eight university, plus many other campuses across the country and in Canada. I rode in homecoming parades, partied at frat houses and just had a ball with all the kids. I made many friends along the way whom I kept in touch with for many years. Eventually the promotions started to ease up, though I continued to work the convention circuit for several years. Then in 1978, I joined Eastern Airlines and put Playboy behind me for a while. I loved working for an airline. I traveled almost every other weekend to Caribbean destinations for a few days of sun, rum and partying, before flying back on a red-eye flight, sleeping on the plane and heading straight to work the next morning. We all did it, but I have no idea how. I had a group of buddies who traveled together, and we just partied like madwomen on the weekends. It was great fun, and I've never lost my obsession with travel. As time went on, I had two brief marriages that were so short and meaningless as not to bother mentioning. My current hubby had gone through similar experiences, so in 1981 we gingerly tiptoed into number three for both of us. Well, the third time was the charm! We have now been happily married for almost 20 years. He has two kids by his first marriage, and a grandson by his daughter. When we did the Chicago Glamourcon a few years back, my family and his huge family all showed up, including our little grandson, Andrew, who was held and cuddled by several Playmates. |
