But I was ready for better things anyway. I took a job at a doctor's office in the Bronx. And I started doing more modeling jobs -- mostly for bathing suits. I also appeared on The Steve Allen Show a few times. That was an incredible time! On one show, I was playing musical chairs with Peter Lawford and Buddy Hackett and a few others. It came down to Buddy, another guy and me. Picture this: a thin me and a fat Buddy fighting for one chair! The chair fell over, and I flopped on the floor with my skirt flying up in front of the entire studio audience. It was so embarrassing, but I did get a standing ovation for that one!
Around this time, I also met the man of my dreams. He was the bus driver for my trip to work every day. He was so cute, and I knew I couldn't let him get away. So I boldly walked up to him and gave him my number. And he still has the piece of paper to this day, after 43 years of marriage.
For many years, I lost touch with Playboy, while I concentrated on raising my family and just living a good life with my husband and my adorable Pomeranian, Rambo. We are very family-oriented. Every Christmas (my favorite holiday!) the entire family comes to our house. We really make it festive. My husband dresses up as Santa Claus and I wear all red. We put dish soap in our fountain in the front yard so that the lawn fills with suds. Everyone loves it.
I am also proud of my collection of Barbie dolls. I have more than 50 now. I think my favorites would be my set of Wizard of Oz dolls. Those are truly treasures.
My whole family is very supportive of my involvement with Playboy. Two of my grandsons (I have 12 grandchildren in all) even wear the Playboy Rabbit Head on a chain around their necks. Playboy has always been a major part of my life and always will be. I have no regrets. And I am glad to be reunited with the Playboy organization. Now I would just like to meet my boss, Hef!
Thanks again for visiting my page! I am really trying to stay in closer touch with my fans these days. It is great to know there are still people out there who appreciate my work!
Love,
Gloria Walker
