Hello! I was born in Austin, Texas on August 17, 1955, and grew up there too. I have two sisters,
plus one brother who died in 1964. Some of my memories include fun activities such as fishing, hunting and camping. Our house was like
Wonderland: We had a tree house with a trolley, tons of animals and fabulous parents -- not in that order, of course!
My high school days were pretty crazy. At first I ran around with all my buddies from middle school, the cheerleaders. I was on the pep squad and
the track team and also played tennis. Around tenth grade, things changed for me. I found new friends and started to socialize more. We were able to go to
clubs and hang out with all the musicians in town. Over the next few years, I grew up really fast.
Stevie Ray Vaughan was a friend; we were the same age. All the local bands in Austin were so talented, and that was my life. I would waitress
during the day at the Garden, the Chili Parlor and the Oyster Bar. I grew up with the blues and country music; it was such a big part of my life
there. There was this tiny little place called the One Night where the regulars were all friends. There was no way for Stevie to make money in
such a little place, so I would pass a hat around for tips for him, and as you know, he became a huge star. My life then was so much fun that,
looking back, I wouldn't change it for the world. What great experiences I had!
In 1977 Playboy came to Austin looking for the 25th Anniversary Playmate. I tried out, and
the next week I was in Beverly Hills doing my test shots to be in the magazine. What a thrill! Being picked up by a limo, flying to LA and
driving to the Mansion -- well, let's just say I was on cloud nine. I met Hef that night and had dinner with him. Hef was and is fantastic.
He is brilliant and a very loving person. I am so honored to know him.
My Playboy shoot with photographer Ken Marcus and makeup artist Alison Reynolds was a blast. We shot for five months, and they let me be
involved in a lot of the decisions. I picked out accessories for the backdrop and helped choose locations in Austin. We had so much fun on
Lake Travis and staying at the best places -- anything went! We all became very close friends while shooting the 380 rolls of film. I still
remain good friends with both of them.
