| My
name is Neferteri Sheba Shepherd. My father discovered my name in the Bible.
He named me after the African Queen Neferteri. Neferteri means Here Comes
The Beautiful One. My middle name, Sheba, was also the name of an African
queen. Shepherd is my mother's last name. My name and I have been through a lot together. As a child I thought about changing my name. Kids and even some adults would make fun because they didn't understand it or know how to properly pronounce it. No one whom I came across as a child could understand the true beauty of my name; nor did I. As I got older I learned my name's origin and significance. When people made fun of my name, as I got older it didn't bother me. I knew that they were talking about my name because they didn't understand it. I love my name now, and I want people to look at my name as a reflection of my self. Nowadays I notice that people want to know where my name comes from and what it means. Instead of making fun, people are telling me how beautiful and unique my name is and that they are going to name their firstborn girl after Queen Neferteri. I must say that I am very happy that my father dug a little deeper than most to find a beautiful name for me. |
