I am and always will be a California girl,
but I grew up a little differently than most of the sunshine girls out
here. My parents, being true hippies, raised me and my two sisters and
brother in a commune in the Sierras of Northern California. What a
lifestyle! We had no electricity, no television. But we always had
dinners together with the other families. It was a small group, but I
really feel fortunate to have met the many characters who came and went
from the commune. People came from all over the world to stay there. The
experience really taught me to accept everyone and their differences,
and not to make judgements about others. It also ingrained in me that
being nude is a comfortable way to go, which definitely helped in my
career later on!
Although I loved growing up in a small mountain community, I always
itched to get out and see the rest of the world. As a child, I was a
voracious reader. I read everything -- travel books, adventures,
biographies and more. And being the free spirit that I am, it was no
surprise to anyone when I moved to the big city at the age of 17. No
more learning about the world through books. I had to see it all for
myself!
I arrived in LA and started modeling soon after; I even got a small part
in a cable movie called Marilyn and Bobby. Then came Playboy. I
was working on a shoot with photographer Dominic Petruzzi, and he asked
me if he could send some shots to Playboy. Of course, I let him! I have
been a fan of Playboy ever since I found a copy of the magazine in my
dad's study. Miss March 1984 Dona Speir was the first Playmate I ever
saw. I could never have imagined that I would be in her place exactly
ten years later! To see unpublished photos from my Playmate pictorial join the Playboy Cyber Club.
Within a few weeks, I was shooting my Centerfold in Playboy's LA studio.
And I was lucky -- my entire shoot took only two days. What a great
opportunity; it really opened up a whole new world for me. My parents
were very supportive right from the start. They are a totally liberal,
free-spirited couple, and nudity was never an issue for any of us. They
knew what an honor this was for me.
