Travel the world with Amanda Cerny, our Playmate of the Month for October 2011. She’s been there and done that – she’s lived in five different states and toured Europe, she was a straight-A student with a black belt in karate and a great varsity track record. She’s a thrill-seeker, too – she went skydiving for her eighteenth birthday, and next she wants to go bungee jumping, zip lining or deep-sea diving. Amanda’s love of travel and head for business led her to a degree program in international affairs at Florida State University. “I had two semesters left, but I took the year off to be Miss October,” she says. “I’m taking it one day at a time.” As a student of global socioeconomics, Amanda is a humanitarian, and she wants to use her status as Playmate to collect donations and promote relief work in Haiti. “I’m on the advisory council in Jacmel,” she says. “We’re working to rebuild hotels and tourist attractions to support the local economy.” Amanda did some modeling in college, but she never considered Playboy until a girl from her high school, a certain Kelly Carrington, became Miss October 2008. Emboldened by her friend’s success, she sent us her portfolio, and we invited her for a test shoot and a stay at the Mansion. “Two weeks later, Hef approved my Centerfold,” she says. “I couldn’t believe it – I got to be Miss October, too. I screamed and called all of my friends and family.” Amanda had never posed nude – at least not in front of a photographer and full crew – but the makeup artist on set assured her that Stephen Wayda was a consummate professional, and by the end of the day she was a professional. Speaking of her professional life, Amanda has moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a model and actress. “I have a lot on my plate,” she says, “but I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Neither would we.
