Smile for the camera with Monica Leigh, our Miss March 2006. She’s warm, sultry, with brown hair, brown eyes and full lips. “I’m from Long Island, New York,” she says, and she’s got the accent to prove it. “I’ve always been a bit of a ham – I love the camera, and I’m in the background of all of our family pictures.” Monica was working as a dental assistant, but she had done some modeling, and when her friend Courtney saw her portfolio, she encouraged her to try out for Playboy. Her friend was Courtney Rachel Culkin, Miss April 2005, and Monica was a shoe-in – she was first featured on a Special Editions cover in 2005, and before the year was out, she was Cybergirl of the Week, Month and Year, and hand-selected to be Miss March 2006. She even landed the cover of the August 2006 issue of the magazine. “I’m glad that I took Courtney’s advice,” she says. “I love being a Playmate, and I would never have done it without her.” These days, Monica is a model and actress in Los Angeles. After the The Girls Next Door, she was featured as an extra on Entourage, CSI: Miami and Spider-Man 3. She appears with fellow Playmates Jennifer Walcott, Janine Habeck and AJ Alexander in the college-age romp The Pool Boys. She’s also a talented singer, and has plans to release her own album. If her success with Playboy is any indication of her success as an actress or musician, we’d keep an eye out for Monica Leigh.
