Giuliana Marino was Playboy’s Miss April 2007 and also Playmate of the Year 2006 in the German edition of Playboy. When Hugh Hefner met her on a trip to Munich, he was so taken with her that he invited her back to the United States.
“He asked me if I wanted to come to America to be a Playmate,” she said. A signed contract and a transatlantic flight later, she was on the cover of the April 2007 issue. “Being a Playmate in America is a lot different than it is in Germany,” she said. “It’s the best thing that ever happened to me.”
As one of the perks of the job, Giuliana played herself on several episodes of The Girls Next Door.
As you might guess from her name, Guiliana’s parents are Italian, but she grew up in Nuremberg, Germany. “At home, we speak Italian, and we eat real Italian food,” she said.
When she travels she’s never sure quite where she fits in. “I feel a bit schizo,” she told Playboy. “When I go to Italy, I’m the German. And when I’m in Germany, I’m the Italian. Now, when I’m in America, people don’t know what to make of me!”
Giuliana’s ambition is to start a career in law enforcement and become a criminal profiler. “My uncle is a police officer in Rome in a special unit, and it sounds very exciting,” she said. “I believe in justice. The police academy takes about two and a half years, and after that I want to be a young mom.”
