About Jennifer Aniston
Friends made her famous, but Jennifer Aniston has acting in her blood. She was born in the neighborhood of Sherman Oaks in Los Angeles, California, and is the daughter of actor John Aniston and actress Nancy Dow. When Jennifer was a child, her family lived in Greece for a year before moving to Eddystone, Pennsylvania, and then New York City. Her parents divorced when she was nine years old. Jennifer graduated from the Fiorello H. Laguardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in Manhattan.
Her acting career started out with a few Off-Broadway productions in New York City. In 1989, she moved back to Los Angeles, and in 1990 she was cast in her first TV roles. She was a series regular on Molloy and Ferris Bueller—a TV show based on the movie—but both shows were quickly canceled. She made guest appearances on Quantum Leap, Herman’s Head, and Burke’s Law. In 1993, she acted in the movie Leprechaun.
In 1994, Jennifer was cast as Rachel on the NBC show Friends, the role that made her a star. She played Rachel until the show ended in 2004, earning an Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award along the way. Even her hairstyle on the show became famous as “the Rachel.” Jennifer had her first starring film role in 1997 with Picture Perfect. She went on to star in Office Space, The Object of My Affection, Rock Star, The Good Girl, Bruce Almighty, Along Came Polly, Derailed, Rumor Has It., Friends with Money, The Break-Up, Marley & Me, He’s Just Not That Into You, The Bounty Hunter, The Switch, Just Go with It, Horrible Bosses, Wanderlust, We’re the Millers, Life of Crime, Cake, and Horrible Bosses 2.
Jennifer had a relationship with Brad Pitt for several years. The two mega-stars wed July 29, 2000, and stayed together several years before announcing their separation in January 2005. After parting ways with Pitt, Jennifer dated Adam Duritz, John Mayer, Vince Vaughn, and Tate Donovan. In August 2012, she announced her engagement to actor, director, and screenwriter Justin Theroux.
