Jo Collins, Playboy’s Miss December 1964, went on to be named Playmate of the Year 1965. Jo was born in Lebanon, Oregon. She told Playboy, “I’m half Norwegian and half Spanish.” Jo graduated from North Eugene High School in Eugene, Oregon, and was approached by Playboy photographer Mario Casilli at a friend’s cocktail party.
After appearing in Playboy, Jo was nicknamed “G.I. Jo” for her work entertaining the troops on USO tours during the Vietnam War. In a 1964 interview, she told Playboy about her ambition to become an actress. That dream came true with roles in such movies as Ski Party, How to Stuff a Wild Bikini, Sergeant Dead Head, Lord Love a Duck, and Fireball 500. Jo appeared in several Playboy documentaries, and in 2006 she played herself in the E! True Hollywood Story “Hugh Hefner: Girlfriends, Wives, and Centerfolds.”
Jo said she’s turned on by “furniture” and turned off by “phonies.” What does she like in men? “Sincerity, masculinity, and manners.” Her ideal evening: “a formal dinner, then hit a few night spots on Sunset Strip and a drive along the beach.”
