About Karlie Kloss
Model Karlie Kloss was born August 3, 1992 in Chicago and moved to St. Louis when she was two. She studied ballet as a child and was discovered in a St. Louis mall while doing a charity fashion show for a friend who was battling cancer. At age 14, a spread for Chicago’s Scene Magazine got her the attention of Elite New York, and she signed with the agency. Later Karlie went with NEXT Model Management, and then moved on to IMG Models.
She has done advertising work for a long list of brands, including Donna Karan, Lacoste, Sportmax, Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana, Gap, Bergdorf Goodman, Dior, Hermes, Oscar de la Renta, Topshop, Lord & Taylor, Barneys New York, and American Eagle. Karlie’s ballet training has made her especially graceful on the runway, and she’s walked in New York, London, Milan, and Paris, for designers that include Calvin Klein, Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, Zac Posen, Givenchy, Gucci, Valentino, Louis Vuitton, and Versace.
Her magazine work has included Vogue, Elle, W, Life, Vanity Fair, and Glamour. Karlie has also done some TV, appearing in an episode of Girls and co-hosting the revival of MTV’s House of Style, and she has done a series of videos of Warby Parker. Good friends with singer Taylor Swift, Karlie appeared in Taylor’s 2015 video for the song “Bad Blood.”
Outside of modeling, Karlie has partnered with the Flatiron School to offer 20 girls the #KodeWithKarlie Scholarship to help teach more girls how to code. She also has partnered with Momofuku Milk Bar on a line of cookies (Karlie’s Kookies) with a portion of the proceeds going to charity.
Romantically, she’s been linked to investor Joshua Kushner. Karlie enjoys baking, biking, and ballet, as well as hanging with her famous gal pals.
