Kelley Thompson, Playboy’s Miss November 2009, was born and raised in Gilmer, a small town in east Texas. Kelley went to the local high school, where she was a cheerleader and the homecoming duchess. She got married at age 17. Kelley was working at a bar in Longview when she heard about our 55th Anniversary Playmate Search. “There was a casting in Dallas,” she told Playboy. “I went and did some test shots, but I never thought that I would hear back.”
A few days after the shoot she said she received a sign. A trio of cottontails had dug a bunny hole in her front yard. The next thing she knew, she got the call. “I cried on the phone,” she said. “I had never even left Texas.” Kelley found herself on a plane to Los Angeles, then in a car to the Mansion, where she met Hugh Hefner and made friends with her fellow Playmates.
“I knew there had to be more to life than tending bar,” she said. “Playboy changed my life.” Before she made centerfold, Kelley was studying medical technology, hoping to become a diagnostic sonographer—but for now, she wants to pursue a career as a model. When she’s not working, she’s at home, cooking and spending time with her family. This country girl loves animals and spends as much time as possible outdoors. “Life is good,” she said. “Especially for my husband. After all, he’s married to a Playmate.”
Kelley had wanted to be a Playmate ever since she became a fan of The Girls Next Door. “I immediately fell in love with Hef and the girls on that show, and I was like, wow, it would be really awesome to experience something like that. It’d be like a dream.”
What has Miss November 2009 learned from her Playboy experiences? “To live life to its fullest,” she said. “To not be afraid to go after something you want. Being from a small town I always knew there was so much more out there, and now I want to go everywhere and see everything. Life’s too short, so give all your dreams a shot.”
