THE 21ST QUESTION:
Where were you living when you got your first big break from Sony Records?

CAREY:
I was living on top of this place called Rascals on E. 22nd Street. There were about five girls in this one little apartment. The girl with the most money had her own bedroom but the rest of us slept on shabby mattresses on the floor. It was a rat-hole apartment. One time we had a flood. I used to love to take long, hot baths. I still do. There was no hot water and I was trying to let it heat up so I let it run for a minute. Well, it was more like a few hours. [Laughs] I fell asleep. We woke up in a fog and water. All my little stuffed animals were floating by us. The one thing that I'm still distraught over is the loss of my little bear Cuddles.
