Crimson Cocktail

  • 1 ½ oz. gin
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon grenadine
  • ¾ oz. port

  • Shake first three ingredients with ice and strain into a martini glass, leaving enough room to float port on top.

Fight songs, cheers, floppy foam fingers -- these are all fine ways of showing your support at a college football game. But whether he's at the pregame tailgate party or gathered with friends in the comfort of his living room, the Playboy fan knows that an apt cocktail can rally the troops. Each week, we bring you a pair of potables tied to an important matchup. Hut, hut, hike!

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Auburn Tigers

It's a big day if you're a fan of a Crimson team. Well, not if you're a fan of the Calumet-St. Joseph Crimson Wave. They don't have a football team. We're also not sure about Southern Nazarene University's Crimson Storm -- they may or may not be playing in the NAIA tournament on this day. In the Ivy League, Harvard's Crimson meets Yale's Bulldogs/Elis in a game those brainy wits call "Harvard-Yale". But for Alabama's Crimson Tide, it's the "Iron Bowl" against the Auburn Tigers. Here are drinks for that Southern slugfest.
