You're an NFL fan. You know the big divisional matchups every year before the schedule is even released. This season, Patriots-Jets, Ravens-Bengals, Broncos-Chargers, Eagles-Cowboys and Panthers-Saints are just some of the beauties that will be played twice in 2007. But you're an NFL fan. You already knew that. So we've decided to go deeper into this year's schedule and find the best interdivisional games. Not surprisingly, many are scheduled for primetime, so the whole country will be looking in.
Week 1: Saints at Colts, Sept. 6, 8:30 p.m.
What a way to kick off Football 2007. New Orleans was one step from the Super Bowl last year, a game Indianapolis finally won after knocking on the door for years. The Saints were the feel-good story of 2006 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Two of the league's best offenses will make this a fun game. Others to watch: Bears at Chargers; Eagles at Packers; Panthers at Rams.
Week 2: Chargers at Patriots, Sept. 16, 8:15 p.m.
Many thought these were the AFC's two best teams heading into the playoffs last season. After New England nipped San Diego in the postseason, LaDanian Tomlinson voiced his disapproval of the Pats' celebration, which included some players stomping on the Chargers' logo at midfield. Should be a raucous scene in Foxborough. Others to watch: Packers at Giants; Cowboys at Dolphins; Jets at Ravens. |
Free of the "can't win the big one" rep, Peyton Manning leads the Super Bowl champ Colts against the Saints to get the season started off with a bang. |
