Playboy's very first issue was published in December 1953. Hugh Hefner wasn't sure there would be a second issue, so he didn't bother to designate a month on the cover. Of course that first issue, featuring Marilyn Monroe on the cover and inside, was an immediate success, and a publishing dynasty was born. Since then, Playboy has published 54 more issues of the magazine corresponding to the month of December, including our current December 2007 issue featuring Kim Kardashian.
