While the first Playboy All America Preseason Football Team was selected in 1957, it took three years before Hugh Hefner came up with the idea of inviting the players to attend a weekend of activities to receive their awards and pose for the famous dream team photo for the magazine.
This year was no exception. The college players Playboy predicts will excel at their positions gathered in Phoenix to meet, relax and receive their Playboy All America medallion, an award that celebrates the very best players in the nation.
Players who will attempt to knock the stuffing out of each other on the football field in a few months ended up exchanging autographs and jerseys before they headed home. They arrived Friday for fun and games and spent Saturday posing for the team photo and competing in the Cowboy Carnival, which included a quick draw contest, mechanical bull and roping contests, country and western singing and dancing and the awards ceremony. Friendships are made at the Playboy weekend that last a lifetime.
