27. Georgia

Coach:
Mark Richt

Last year:
Finished 9-4 which included a 31-24 victory over Virginia Tech in the Chick-fil-A Bowl.

Offense: Sophomore quarterback Matthew Stafford returns after finishing 6-2 as a starter last season. It was an up-and-down season last year but the Bulldogs closed out strong with Stafford at the helm, edging Auburn, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech to close out the season. The returning running backs, Kregg Lumpkin and Thomas Brown, are more than adequate and place kicker Brandon Coutu gives Georgia a chance to score every time they get inside an opponent's 40-yard line. The Bulldogs could be plagued early by an inexperienced offensive line.

Defense: Lots of holes to fill, especially at defensive end with both Quentin Moses and Charles Johnson now in the NFL. Richt is counting on some redshirts and junior college transfers for help.

Schedule: The Bulldogs open with three games at home but have to travel to Tennessee and Florida later in the season.

Prediction: 7-5
