32. Hawaii
Coach:
June Jones is in his ninth-year of wearing Hawaiian shirts.
Last year:
11-3
Offense:
In case you've never heard of him, Colt Brennan is on track to break just about every college passing record on the books. Only the time zone he is playing most of his games in is keeping him a relative secret to college football fans. Brennan will throw the ball everywhere, most often to receivers Davone Bess, Jason Rivers and Ryan Grice-Mullen. Brennan will miss the sure hands and ferocious open field running of back Nate Ilaoa.
Defense:
The Warriors best defensive player will be 302-pound senior tackle Michael Lafaele. Look for JUCO transfer Joshua Leonard to provide a much needed pass rush after the graduation of defensive ends Melila Purcell and Ikaika Alama-Francis.
Schedule:
Hawaii's schedule is always favorable because opponents so often have to make the long flight over the ocean before they play. And the distraction of the palm trees can also be a factor. Whatever happens early, Hawaii will be tested when Boise State and Washington come calling at the end of the year.
Prediction:
9-3
