33. Florida State

Coach:
Bobby Bowden has 32 years under his belt with the Seminoles.

Last year:
A disappointing 7-6. However, FSU beat up on UCLA in the Emerald Bowl (44-27).

Offense: Drew Weatherford, a freshman All-America in 2005, and Xavier Lee split quarterbacking duties last season. Both return and will continue to battle for the starting spot going into the fall. Injuries plagued the Seminoles last year but gave several younger players valuable playing time, a positive factor for this year. New offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher will throw some new wrinkles into FSU's attack. Antone Smith at running back is a good one.

Defense: It's old home week at Tallahassee with Chuck Amato returning as linebackers coach after a stint as head coach at North Carolina State. With Lawrence Timmons leaving early for the NFL and Buster Davis graduated, Amato will have his work cut out for him. The return of Paul Griffin at nose guard, after missing almost all of last season due to an injury, will give the Noles some much needed strength in the middle of the line.

Schedule: Road games at Virginia Tech and Florida in November will test whether FSU is ready to resume its position as one of the elite teams in the nation.

Prediction: 7-5
