37. South Florida
Coach:
Jim Leavitt
Last year:
9-4. The Bulls beat East Carolina (24-7) in the Papajohn's.com Bowl.
Offense:
While South Florida is not exactly a household name to most of us, Big East opponents are quickly learning not to take the Bulls for granted. Just ask West Virginia, who got knocked off by South Florida last year in the final game of the regular season. Big East Rookie of the Year Matt Grothe can run, throw and scramble. Grothe's favorite target will be Taurus Johnson while running back Mike Ford is good enough to give the offense needed balance.
Defense:
The excellent secondary led by corners Trae Williams and Mike Jenkins. Linebacker Ben Moffitt makes tons of tackles. If the Bulls can find a pass rush, the defense could be good enough to keep the offense on the field most of the time.
Schedule:
Early out-of-conference game against Auburn could set the tone for the season.
Prediction:
7-5
