Bronco Mendenhall enters his fourth season at Provo.

Last season:
11-2. The Cougars finished last season on a 10-game win streak.

Studs: With 10 starters returning from last year's MWC championship team, BYU has lots of them. Quarterback Max Hall finished last year with 298 completions on 496 attempts for 3,848 yards and 26 touchdowns. Running back Harvey Unga returns after rushing for 1,227 yards last year after sitting out 2006 with a hip injury. And there is size and experience returning upfront with Dallas Reynolds (6'5", 332) and Ray Feinga (6'5", 322), both all-conference picks last season.

Scoop: Mendenhall is upbeat about his defense -- perhaps too upbeat considering the number of starters he needs to replace from last year. Linebacking may be a particular concern with two starters lost and junior Terrance Hooks questionable after suffering a torn patella this spring.

Prediction: 10-2
