Gary Cole picks a dream team composed of college football's most legendary performers

Saying that Playboy's picks for its annual All America Team are on the mark is an understatement. Over its 50-year history, Playboy's All America squad has included 27 players who have been inducted in the NFL Football Hall of Fame. That makes it a maddening task to whittle down decades of playmakers into an all-time team to represent the best of a half-century of college football. Some great players were left off this team -- All-Pro athletes like John Elway, Bo Jackson, Herschel Walker, Jevon Kearse, Tedy Bruschi, Jason Hanson, Ray Lewis, Joe Greene and Charles Woodson didn't make the cut. Here are our choices for the game's greatest players.
