#2 Real Genius (1985)
Directed by Martha Coolidge
Starring Val Kilmer, Gabriel Jarret, William Atherton
Super genius physics students -- led by super cool Val Kilmer -- rise up against a
villainous dean (aren't they all?), create a super laser and have a bitchin' good
time doing it. Real Genius is an MIT student's wet dream, but you'll like it, too.
Reality Check: It probably has more actual studying than any other college
flick you've ever seen. And even though this reporter's never been to a physics class,
it seems somewhat scientifically accurate that they wear goggles and aprons when dealing
with lasers that could burn a hole in a man from 90,000 feet up.
Getting Lucky: Sorry, man, not to burst your bubble, but I don't care how cool you
think you are, you can't compare with Val Kilmer in his prime. She'll look at you and wonder.
Babe Factor: There are more hotties hanging around in this movie than have ever been
within 500 feet of a physics dorm, but they're all clothed, some even wearing goggles and aprons. Sigh.
Would you want to go to school here?: Tough call. Everyone appears to be having fun,
but, sheesh, who wants to go to class all the time?
