Plenty of schools count on canine mascots to be loyal and loud mouthpieces. But after yapping with Rhett, a terrier who reps Boston University, you get the feeling that the rest of the pack is more bark than bite. Sure, terriers aren't the biggest of breeds. But Rhett makes up for that with attitude.

Named after the slick Southern gentleman from Gone With the Wind, Rhett lives up to his namesake, courting plenty of chicks on the sidelines and whipping crowds into a frenzy at hockey and basketball matches. And any dog mascot that has been known to play drinking games between periods is definitely in the running for best in show. Rhett recently sounded off with Playboy.com about flirting with the ladies, crowd surfing and why roughhousing with the Easter Bunny is never a good idea.

Playboy.com: Is it hard competing with the bulldogs and the other big dogs of the world?
Rhett: I've gotten that before from rival schools. For the most part, I can hold my own. I'm a badass; I growl all the time and wear a spiked collar. At least I'm not an orange or a train, like some other mascots.

Playboy.com: Do you have a theme song? "Who Let the Dogs Out," perhaps?
Rhett: I don't have anything specific. Each team might have a set of warm-up songs. The men's hockey team has used "Click Click Boom" by Saliva. Plus, the band plays a lot of songs.

Playboy.com: What was your best moment as a mascot?
Rhett: I once went crowd surfing during a hockey game at Walter Brown Arena. I got the whole crowd into it, and my photo made the front page of the student newspaper.

Playboy.com: What was your worst moment?
Rhett: I do a lot of community events. At the annual Easter egg hunt last year, I was there with the Easter Bunny. I sort of ran up and picked him up, just goofing around and stuff, but then I accidentally dropped the Easter Bunny in front of a bunch of kids.

Playboy.com: How do you get the crowd fired up?
Rhett: I take a one-on-one approach to the crowd. I raise the roof, put my hands to my ear, that kind of thing. During a hockey game I'll create signs and run around and act crazy.

Playboy.com: Any special, one-on-one treatment for the female fans?
Rhett: I'm a ladies man. I like to hit on the ladies, give them massages and give them flowers and drinks.

Playboy.com: Does that reputation carry over with the cheerleaders? Do you ever do combined routines for games?
Rhett: I do. I've done stunts before. Sometimes I grab the pom-poms and cheer with the cheerleaders. Occasionally I'll even do a routine with the dance team. I make sure the fans know I can dance.

Playboy.com: Who is your biggest rival?
Rhett: The Boston College Eagle is the biggest. We've never fought, but things get heated during the Beanpot, an annual hockey tournament between all the big New England hockey schools. Historically, the Beanpot championship has always been a Boston College-Boston University match-up, so the mascots always go out on the ice in between periods. One year, we played Beirut on the ice and it was a huge hit with the college students.

Playboy.com: Who won?
Rhett: I'm not sure. It was a few years ago. I think it might have been the Eagle.
