Even now, 13 years after its cancellation, Baywatch is still one of the most popular TV shows on earth. Originally airing from 1989 to 2001, a whopping 242 episodes were produced and they’re all still being shown through syndication around the globe. And what aspect of the show do its fans find so appealing? We’re sure Baywatch’s sunny beach setting, the lifeguards’ dramatic lives and David Hasselhoff’s thespian prowess all contribute to the show’s continuing allure. But we suspect the largest factor in Baywatch’s success is the rotating bevy of luscious swimsuited women in the cast—and the slow-motion shots and montages of the babes present in each episode.

Pamela Anderson and Carmen Electra are two Baywatch babes who famously modeled for Playboy, but they’re not the whole story—we’ve featured a number of shapely sirens who excited the public both in Playboy’s pages and by running down the beach in slo-mo.

When Erika Eleniak appeared in Playboy as Miss July 1989, she had just recently shot the pilot for Baywatch. Little did she know her part as rookie lifeguard Shauni McClain on the show’s first three seasons would propel her into superstardom. A former child actress, Erika had a small part in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial when she was 13 before moving on to roles in everything from the horror movie The Blob to the sitcom Full House. A multitalented actress indeed, but for her fans she’ll always be the queen of the beach.

Actress and model Heidi Mark was a ’90s pinup sensation and her popularity spilled over to television where she guest-starred on the decade’s biggest shows such as Beverly Hills, 90210; Ally McBeal and, of course, Baywatch—where she had a recurring role playing Holly, a model with serious swimming skills. You can spot Heidi on the cover of Playboy’s April 1994 issue and a year later she ascended to become July 1995’s Playmate of the Month. Take a stroll on the beach with Heidi courtesy of her radiant pictorial.

As the scheming sexpot lifeguard Baywatch viewers loved to hate, Gena Lee Nolin’s character Neely Capshaw was the closest thing the show had to a villain. She may have played a bad girl on TV, but she’s a very good girl in her December 2001 Playboy celebrity photo shoot. Moving her from the seaside to the countryside, we shot her in a sundrenched pastoral scene with the glories of nature highlighting Gena’s exquisiteness.

Check out the Baywatch babes in the gallery above; best of all, you don’t have to share them with David Hasselhoff.
