Willowy blonde Kyara Tyler was our Cybergirl of the Month in August 2013 and she's quite the adventurous one! Unfortunately, if you haven't yet voted for Kyara to be our 2014 Cybergirl of the Year it's too late! The voting may be closed, but check out our interview with Kyara below while you wait for April to see if she wins!
Playboy.com: How did you get started posing for Playboy.com?
Kyara: I have been following Playboy for a very long time. One of my mother’s best friends growing up was [Playmate] Barbara Moore. So I grew up aware of the brand and hearing stories about what being a Playmate was all about. I never heard anything negative about Playboy, and I knew a long time ago I wanted to be a part of the brand. The day that I first met Mr. Hefner, I did not have dry eyes! He created such an amazing company and I am so thankful to know such an icon.
Playboy.com: What unique things do you bring to Playboy.com?
Kyara: I am very active in circus arts. I train on silks, lyra, trapeze and pole. These arts are so physical—they help me stay flexible and connected to my body. I also get inspired for new posing ideas while practicing and performing, and the guys love seeing shots of me doing circus tricks. Being connected to your body is what makes the difference between an okay picture and a stellar photo shoot.
Playboy.com: Which physical feature do you most often get complimented on?
Kyara: The most common is my eyes. People say that I have kind eyes. The second thing people notice is my abs. On my Instagram I get the hashtag #circusabs a lot! [laughs]
Playboy.com: Do you have a favorite behind-the-scenes story from a photo shoot?
Kyara: Last year I was asked to be a model for Ralph Gibson’s photography workshop in Palm Springs. It was an amazing experience! The location was Vicki Blue’s house (from The Runaways) and it was so amazing—she had horses, cool pools and a wolf! During the workshop I had another photographer ask me to sub in for his model and do some nude underwater work. I’ll never forget Ralph Gibson coming around the corner looking for me as I was jumping naked into a pool! After the shoot we all hung out, relaxed and had some laughs. Being a model gets you face time with some incredible artists!
Playboy.com: Aside from modeling, what are you focusing on these days?
Kyara: I log hours in R22 helicopters, I log hours in the ocean towards a Scuba Master Diver certification and I study microbiology. Micobiology is my major and I spend a huge amount of time studying invisible little critters!
Playboy.com: Where is your favorite place to fly?
Kyara:That’s easy: over the ocean. I was a swimmer in high school and I am an advanced PADI diver so I love being near the water and looking for wildlife, even if it’s skimming along the surface.
Playboy.com: What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever seen from the air?
Kyara: When flying, you get to see so many cool things. It’s kind of about the change in perspective. While trying to focus on controlling the aircraft sometimes it can be hard to focus on any one cool thing that might be below you. However, the first time I flew with the doors off the aircraft it was really neat during a turn to glance straight down and see my own shadow below me, with nothing separating me from the ground. My stomach turned and for a second I thought, "What am I doing all the way up here in this crazy machine?!" But that is part of training, you have to overcome the emotions and the mind tricks. So the coolest thing I have seen? My own flying shadow.
Playboy.com: On an average Saturday night, what are you doing?
Kyara: For the last several years I have been spending my Sundays at the Playboy Mansion for Fun in the Sun. It’s pretty much an all-day party, then dinner and a movie. So my Saturday nights, I'm usually at the gym or resting to prep for a crazy Sunday at the Playboy Mansion.
Playboy.com: If you could go on a date with one person, dead or alive, who would it be?
Kyara: I am a huge Rolling Stones fan, so Mick Jagger would be my dream date. I love his voice and I would love to talk to him about the evolution of rock and roll!
Playboy.com: What would your fans be surprised to know about you?
Kyara: I originally became a model because I love good photos and I love photography. I have taken several photography classes and I have had my own professional camera and lights since 2009. My fans might be surprised to know that some of their favorite pictures of me, I have taken of myself with my own equipment.
Playboy.com: What will you do if you’re named Cybergirl of the Year 2014?
Kyara: I think being Cybergirl of the Year is about sharing a lot of yourself with the world. You get to be sexy for the gents, and you get to be an example of beauty to the ladies. I would be so thrilled to get to shoot more creative pictorials for Playboy. I would try to talk them into shooting me in an R22! I am a very progressive person and an adventurist. I would love to share more of myself, and all of the things I do, with the world through Playboy.
