We're very happy to be talking to Cybergirl of the Month April 2014 Lana James in this week's Facetime. Lana is a student from Dallas, Texas who never expected to get the chance to pose for us, let alone be chosen as CGOM! Needless to say, we're glad she did. Read on to find out all about her.
Playboy.com: How did you get started posing for Playboy.com?
Lana: I’ve been friends with Jose Luis, who is a contracted photographer for Playboy, so he said, “If you wanted, you could probably pose for Playboy,” and I thought it was a joke. I really thought he was messing with me, or that I wouldn’t get cast, but I did!
Playboy.com: What unique things do you bring to Playboy.com?
Lana: I think I bring a different type of figure. I’m not tall, I’m not five-ten, I’m not blonde and I’m all natural.
Check out her sexy gallery here.
Playboy.com: You’re the CGOM April 2014. Where were you and what were you doing when you first found out?
Lana: I was sitting in my Philosophy of Science class, which is the most boring class in the entire universe. My phone started ringing and I saw that it was Jose and I was so bored I asked my teacher if I could step into the hallway to talk to him. When he told me the news I literally screamed—it echoed through the hall and down the stairwell. It was pretty hilarious.
Playboy.com: How does it feel to be Cybergirl of the Month?
Lana: Pretty cool! Like I said, I didn’t even think I would get through to Playboy, I didn’t think I was what they were looking for. I expected one photo shoot deal and then I’ll be able to tell my future daughter one day that I posed for Playboy. But never would I have thought that it would have gone further than that.
Playboy.com: Who is your favorite Playmate?
Lana: I’m obsessed with Britt Linn. She was last month’s Playmate of the Month. I think she is so hot and I think it’s pretty cool how there are other types of Playboy models. She is an all-American hottie, but her hair and face are so killer. She’s one-of-a-kind and I think that’s really, really cool.
Playboy.com: Do you have a favorite behind-the-scenes story from a photo shoot?
Lana: Probably my very first photo shoot. I was a brand-new model, I had no idea what I was doing. All I did was watch a bunch of YouTube videos of Adriana Lima and just hope I could do well. Sure enough, I show up to the photo shoot wearing glasses. I forgot my contact lenses. So the entire photo shoot, for all three sets of photos and videos, I couldn’t see anything. I am blind as a bat! I thought that was really funny, especially since those photos won me Cybergirl of the Month.

Playboy.com: Aside from modeling, what are you focusing on these days?
Lana: School has always been my life, but now that I got Cybergirl of the Month I’m going to focus a little more on modeling. I want to be in school for a long time. I want to get my Master’s degree, I even thought about going to med school. I’m getting a double major in fashion and biology, super random, but it’s just pretty much because I really like school. So that’s probably my number one, but modeling’s really cool and I’m hoping that something can come from that, too.
Playboy.com: On an average Saturday night, what are you up to?
Lana: I’m not a very Saturday night, flashy type of girl. I live on a downtown square with bars all around and I usually just take my dog and meet up with friends at an outdoor bar and have a couple beers; sometimes we go to a martini bar. I really enjoy being outside, especially around this time of the year, so if I’m not at a bar I like to go to the dog park at night, I think that’s really fun.
Playboy.com: What’s your idea of the perfect date?
Lana: I have a couple. I’ve really been wanting to go to the zoo with a man. This weekend I went to the aquarium with a girlfriend and had so much fun I thought, “This would be so much fun with a man!” So I think going to the zoo and then getting a nice dinner afterward. Have you heard of Whirlyball? It’s like bumper cars and lacrosse in one—I really want to try it! I bet that would be a really fun date. I also like grocery shopping with a man. I think it’s really interesting because it gives you a way to figure out if they’re going to be able to cook for you or not, and they carry your groceries inside!
Playboy.com: Do you have a favorite animal that you like to see if you go to the zoo?
Lana: I really like bears; brown bears are probably my favorite. I like pandas and polar bears, too—I love all the bears. I like the big cats: tigers and cougars and jaguars, those are all so beautiful. I hate the bird room, though. I hate birds so much. Those are the only ones I try to steer clear of. But I love all the other animals.

Playboy.com: What’s the best date you’ve ever been on?
Lana: I don’t know! I had fun at my junior homecoming, if that counts. I don’t really date men very often. If I do go on a date it’s pretty lame, normally. It’s just dinner and a movie, or something. But I had a lot of fun at my homecoming. That was probably my favorite date. You know, the limo ride to get dinner, the dance afterward, and the after-party.
Playboy.com: The worst?
Lana: Hmm, one time I was with a guy and he found out he was allergic to shellfish so his face got all puffy. It was really scary. We just got him to the hospital really quickly, he was fine after that. Now he doesn’t eat shrimp. We’re still really good friends, but sometimes I can’t help but laugh about it. It was years ago, so I feel like it’s okay to laugh now.
Playboy.com: If you could go on a date with one person, dead or alive, who would it be?
Lana: That’s hard! Probably Johnny Depp, Ryan Gosling…who else? Those are my two favorite hotties. Justin Timberlake, for sure.
Playboy.com: What’s one thing you think all men should know?
Lana: If you want to have the best time of your life, you’ve got to give a little to get a little. It goes both ways. I feel like men my age do not get that at all. They think we’re their little princesses and we’re here to serve them. Girls get much more comfortable whenever you’re giving.
Playboy.com: What qualities drive you wild in a man?
Lana: Number one is intelligence, for sure. That’s definitely the single most attractive thing a man can have. Number two is being sensitive, especially towards animals. I love animals and I have two cats and a dog that I treat like my children, and if you’re not sensitive towards them it’s a dealbreaker. I love creativity, because I’m a pretty creative person and I like to be spontaneous with my days and what I do, so I think that’s really attractive as well.
Playboy.com: How do we win your heart?
Lana: Be spontaneous and surprise me with fun things to do. When it comes to dating I’m always the brains behind the whole operation, so I really like it when a man sweeps me off my feet and plans the date. I think that’s really, really nice. Give a little to get a little! [laughs]
Playboy.com: When do you feel sexiest?
Lana: Probably in the morning. I have a bedtime ritual: I take a shower, braid my hair, brush my teeth and slather myself in lotion, so usually when I wake up in the morning I feel super fresh and I unbraid my hair and it looks like mermaid hair. I just feel super pretty in the morning. I feel pretty sexy in the bathtub too. I think it’s because I have long hair and I feel like a mermaid. [laughs]

Playboy.com: Are you more of a morning person or a night owl?
Lana: I’m both. I think I can have more fun at night, but in the mornings I’m very comfortable to be around. I’m much more easygoing.
Playboy.com: What would your fans be surprised to know about you?
Lana: I’m very good at chess. I was in the chess club in high school and I played tournaments and I have eight chess sets in my house. I love it.
Playboy.com: Do you go to the park and play chess with the old men?
Lana: No, but I go to this bar that only old people go to, and I go to play chess there with old people. It’s fun!
Playboy.com: What’s in your iPod?
Lana: I like a lot of indie rock, but I think my favorite is just classic rock. I love listening to oldies, I love New Age music. This summer I’m going to Bonnaroo, which is a music festival in Tennessee with Elton John, Kanye West and Jack White from the White Stripes headlining. So I’ve been listening to a lot of Elton and a lot of White Stripes. I’m pretty excited!
