Gadget Geek's Guide to Zombies

By The Gadget Geek

Thanks to Walking Dead being back on air, we've caught the zombie bug yet again. Here's what you would need to survive the zombie apocalypse in style.

The only good thing about summer ending is our favorite television shows starting back up again. From Community (maybe) to American Horror Story, we can’t wait to get home, kick off our boots and warm our hands by the glow of our television sets. Last weekend AMC’s The Walking Dead started its third season with rave reviews and a record-breaking number of viewers. This week we’re dedicating Gadget Geek to all things zombie to commemorate our favorite fad that just won’t die.

Z.E.R.O. Kit

If you’re going to have any chance of surviving the zombie apocalypse, you’re going to need a whole lot of stuff to get you through it. In an age where we rely heavily on online shopping, box subscriptions and generally having other people do the work for us, it’s logical that a company has taken the time to assemble the ultimate zombie tactical kit just in case the impossible ends up happening. From making your own ammo to the equipment you will need to find a cure for bitten loved ones, the $24,999 Z.E.R.O. (Zombie Extermination, Research and Operations) kit has it all.

Piggyback Solar Powered Gadgetbag

If you’re lugging around an iPad or Kindle to keep yourself entertained between bouts of running for your life and scavenging for food, a solar-powered backpack is a definite necessity. Just remember, there won’t be any more updates of Angry Birds,  you’ll be stuck without Google Maps and will have to depend on the less-than-perfect Apple Maps if the zombie thing goes down anytime soon. The Piggyback Solar Powered Gadgetbag, which uses a built-in USB to charge your device, only has one output, so you’re going to have to choose between your gadgets to see which one makes the cut. Oh the humanity!

Zombie Bleeding Mutilated Target Dummies

Just like Morgan Jones in the first episode of Walking Dead, it isn’t going to be easy pointing a gun at a walker, no matter how much of a badass you are. That’s why you should be practicing your moves sooner rather than later, on the off chance you find yourself waking up in an abandoned hospital in a zombie-infested town while your wife and coworker are making out somewhere in the woods. Not only is this dummy creepy as hell, it also spews out zombie goo whenever you hit the target. Repulsively awesome, isn’t it? Buy it here.

The Siberian Adventure Vehicle

Courtesy of: Tiger Adventure Vechicles You’re going to want to keep some form of creature comforts. The Siberian, an off-road RV, is the textbook example of what you should be living in while surviving the zombie apocalypse. Built to drive deep into the woods, and equipped with solar panels, beautiful wood floors and a surprisingly attractive bathroom one does not usually find in a motor home, the Siberian is definitely a necessity.
