So lately I’ve been having these stress dreams about my fantasy football league draft. Granted, I’ve been on a 13-day road trip that included a visit to Belize (where I met the jaguar in these pictures). But I knew my most recent dream was more of a nightmare because I drafted a kicker with my first pick.
I’m not going to give up any of my draft strategy, buy I can assure you I’m not going to take a kicker with my first pick when the inaugural Play-By-Playmate fantasy football league holds its draft in a week.
But these bad dreams really got to me. I had another where it was the night of the draft. I was running behind on errands so I wasn’t prepared, and then I couldn’t get my internet to connect at the Bunny House. So because my time was running out I had to randomly pick players. There was no method to the madness. I didn’t have time to research anything. I was so stressed out in my dreams about being unprepared.
But I guarantee that's not a taste of what's to come. This season, I have no intention of being a Dirty Randy, who is a character on Season Two of The League. The group went to Las Vegas for their draft and at the last minute found themselves down a man, so they invited Dirty Randy to be in their league. He showed up in Vegas and proceeded to get so drunk that he stumbled through the player’s names. He had no idea of what fantasy football was. He was just crazy. I can promise my league that I’m not going to pull a Dirty Randy on our draft night. I’m going to be prepared. I just bought some fantasy football magazines that I read on my flight from Indianapolis to Vegas over the weekend and I have a secret weapon in my arsenal, too.
But this year’s fantasy football league will be my biggest challenge to date. Last time I played in a league it was with Scott Hanson of the NFL Network. Obviously he can’t bet because of his job so everything went to charity. For that league, the computer automatically tallied the points and set the rosters from week to week, so it basically did everything for you.
I know my league is going to be a challenging group, but I prefer that. I think it’s going to help me become more knowledgeable and a better player in the long run. I’d rather be pushed and challenged.
Now, I know it’s early, so I’ll save the trash talking for once the season gets under way. But I do want to congratulate the two fans who will participate in my fantasy football league this season, John Cupoli and George Martin, both of who follow me on Twitter. I look forward to having them in the league. Not sure if you heard, but the league winner gets to send me and Playmate Pilar Lastra, who is also in the league, three of their hand-picked team jerseys for us to pose in for a personal photo shoot. But since I intend to win, I don’t know if I’m going to want, say, Playboy Radio’s Kevin Klein returning the favor.
Stay tuned on my fantasy football draft by following me on Twitter at @jaimeedmondson and check out these pictures from my recent trip to Belize. Yes, that's me with a jaguar.
