Jenny McCarthy is set to head back to television, debuting her very own talk show, The Jenny McCarthy Project, on VH1.
Jenny McCarthy has been making huge waves in the press lately. Just a few months ago her eighth tell-all book, Bad Habits: Confessions of a Recovering Catholic, in which she talks about modeling for Playboy, a lesbian fling and other juicy tidbits of her past, hit the shelves to rave reviews; she cohosted Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve alongside Ryan Seacrest, where she rang in the new year kissing a lucky sailor in Times Square; and now she’s set to head back to television, debuting her very own talk show, The Jenny McCarthy Project, on VH1. Don’t expect her show to follow the generic late-night formula; she’s promising a whole new spin on interviewing and is taking pointers from Hugh Hefner’s 1960s show Playboy After Dark.
“What is missing in late night—to me—is a bit of sexiness. Not that Jay Leno is not sexy, but I l feel like the template that I talked about is Playboy After Dark,” she told The Examiner. “What I love that Hugh Hefner did was kind of have this sexy, after-hours party but also have really great conversations with his guests. That was really my goal…trying to incorporate that kind of sexiness with having really great conversations with celebrities.”
Jenny has also said that The Jenny McCarthy Project will have a new twist on interviewing celebs: lying on the ground and talking to cameras overhead. She’s also pulling from her old job as a host on MTV’s Singled Out, saying she will always be the girl who is "cheering on the girls and making fun of the guys."
Jenny’s talk show will premiere on VH1 February 8th at 10:30 pm EST.
