The holidays just got brighter as we complete our countdown to the greatest (and sexiest!) Christmas-themed shoot of Playboy's scintillating past.

Last week in Playboy Retro we started a Christmas-themed countdown to the greatest Playboy holiday pictorial of them all. Brighten up the darkest time of the year and look back with us on the festive winter Playmates of yore.

 1. Busty, buxom, blonde, busty (a 37D!) marvel Carol Eden starred in the 1960 December edition of Playboy, wrapping up the year on a scrumptious note. This apple-cheeked bird was barely 18 when she did her shoot, but she was still a youth of the early not-yet-swinging ’60s—in her bio she tells us she loves the ballet but hates the rock and roll music! Funny that, since looking at her we feel we could rock and roll with Carol Eden all night long. You’re going to love her cozy Christmas-themed shoot showcasing the lovely model wrapping her presents by a roaring fire. Shove off, “Jingle Bells”; we have a new number one Christmas Carol!

 2. Ellen Stratton was a long, tall drink of water with fierce brains to match her knockout good looks. When she shot for Playboy in December of 1959 she was a legal secretary working toward becoming a lawyer, a feat that is perhaps not as remarkable a career path today, but at the time “lady lawyers” (the phrasing of her Playmate biography) were a rarity. She was also the first ever Playmate of the Year! Why don’t you join her under the mistletoe for a quick peck?

Instead of a whole shoot, we have just one picture to feature for the number one spot on our Christmas countdown, but it’s the most famous and iconic Christmas-themed pinup picture of all time. Yes, it’s the Queen of Curves, the Dark Angel, the Tease from Tennessee, the Queen of the Pinups herself: Bettie Page! The January 1955 centerfold photo of a winking, joyful and sensual Bettie decorating a Christmas tree—wearing little more than a Santa cap—was an immediate hit. And now, almost 60 years later, it’s still a classic! Let a little Christmas spirit into your heart and see why the world is still gaga over Bettie.
