Born 2 loose: Relaxing Summer Shirts
Picking out the right shirts for casual summer vibes is less of an exact science than other forms of sartorial expression, but that only means you have a more colorful canvas to work with. Of course fit, fit, fit is still critical, but instead of measuring in quarters of inches (the language of suits and dress shirts) you should afford yourself some extra room and focus on what sort of energy you put out. Sharp tailoring is always great, but sometimes you just want to look like a cool dude to drink a beer or share a nice bottle of rosé with.
Now, I am usually the first person to dissuade dudes from "wearing what is comfortable" but you will look like a way bigger jerk sweating in a tight spread-collar shirt than if you rock something that has more breathability and affords you room to groove.
On the basics front, a solid-colored linen shirt will always do the trick. But keep in mind that lighter colors of linen are not very forgiving when it comes to disguising your schvitzing (sweating for all you mayonnaise eaters out there) so go with something like this navy blue gingham dude from J. Crew.
For the more adventurous man, I cosign any of the wild style pullover joints from Burkman Bros. I particularly love this striped number, which radiates a cool abstract Beach Boys sort of energy. The color blocks on the collar are a nice touch and give a generous dollop of the funky funky. Rock this with some inexpensive white Levi’s.
Another option is to go with a mutated version of the classic patchwork shirt. A lot of brands are doing these nowadays, still running off the fumes of the "neo-preppy" explosion that hit a few years ago. This version from Polo Rugby has a Dipset-inspired bandana accent that balances pop with subtlety. It's still just a blue shirt so treat it like one and wear it with light jeans and some chill canvas shoes (maybe these Vans?) and you will be good.
