Original Post 28/08/13:
In our inaugural edition of Playboy.com’s Fall Fashion Preview we talked of many things: we dissected suit cuts with Brooklyn Tailors and segmented unique style by some central modern-day figures. We tracked trends like mismatched patterns and got the story behind brands like wings + horns. Our girls, always willing to lend a hand, raided our sock drawers and were caught on camera modeling some shirts they would be bound to steal. All told, we tracked the fall season in its entirety, a 360-degree, bird’s-eye view offering a whole host of practical suggestions to get you well on your way to becoming a better (dressed) man.
This year we’re taking a decidedly different tack. Rather than giving you another step-by-step tutorial, a crash course if you will in fall fashion, we thought we might try letting you off the leash, distilling the season’s trends down to (quite literally) the bare essentials and having you decide for yourself how best to harness them. After all, “style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn.”
Over 10 days in September we will be releasing 10 new, never-before-seen pictorials highlighting the fall 2013 trends every man should know. But rather than get caught up in the clutter of the runway, we’ve extracted the season’s best styles and are bringing them to you (again, with a little help from our friends) through bodies and body paint. Without giving too much away, let us just say that it won’t be difficult to identify the trend or article of clothing we’re trying to emphasize...
Playboy.com has also teamed up with some of the industry’s fastest-rising fashion bloggers for this endeavor, including:
Brian Sacawa of He Spoke Style – “Dressing well and looking put together doesn’t (and shouldn’t) necessarily mean wearing a suit and tie every day. While there’s definitely a time and place for a well-tailored grey worsted wool suit…pretending to be Don Draper on a daily basis is neither practical nor appropriate. Plus—perhaps above all else—it’s too obvious.”
Tommy Lei of MYBELONGING – “MYBELONGING is all about self-expression to the fullest on your own terms. It's about being that sartorially-savvy individual who lives life by the reins but with grace, humility and plenty of heart. Always overdressed to a fault—not just to impress.”
Megan Collins of Style Girlfriend – “Style…is about making a statement to the world about who you are. You can express your style through the clothes you wear, but also through the way you live your life…I think to live a stylish life is to live with intention.”
Rocky Li of Third Looks – “Third Looks is dedicated to collecting visual stimuli that’s worth further inspection. [It] was created as a platform for creative individuals across fashion, music, and art to share viewpoints on design and style.”
So stay tuned all next week for Playboy.com’s Fall Fashion Preview 2013, and check out behind-the-scenes photos from all the shoots on our Instagram, @Playboy Online.
