As the summer heat starts to fizzle, we offer up our best fashion picks to counter the first signs of fall.
Summer is winding down. There's a certain crispness to the night air that was not there a few weeks ago.
What does this mean for your wardrobe? It means now is a great time to grab a few pieces that will carry you into the late summer/early fall with some trans-seasonal swagger.
First up, get a lightweight jacket for casual nighttime looks. Something like this pullover from OG outdoorsmen Woolrich Woolen Mills would totally do the trick. The rich red color bangs without being garish (side note: avoid yellow coats unless you want to dress like the Gorton's fisherman), but what really seals the deal for me are the details around the pocket and the hood. Those leather toggles are dope. For the price, a summer-weight parka is a great, inexpensive investment, as you can wear it again come spring. Choose one from a company known for making rugged goods, such as Woolrich or Sierra Designs, and you should easily be able to get five to seven years of wear out of this.
Next, cop a simple cotton cardigan. Girls love these things. If you are a grown man, these versatile numbers should have replaced the hoodies/long-sleeve tees in your wardrobe. You can rock them with an oxford shirt for a more preppy/mod look or wear with a white tee to suggest "I am cooling out, on vacation." Though, as with all sweaters, never wear this with a graphic tee.
