Sex Up Your Earth Day

The celebration of Earth Day dwindles in direct correlation to how many years you’ve been out of school. But we do have a few tips on how you can sex up your earth day; you know we’re always good for that.

Shower Together

Conserving water is a great tip to practice, even if you’re only doing it to keep down the water bill. What you may not know is that a standard 2 inch shower heard spurts out approximately 1.5-2.5 gallons of water in a minute. If you can, head down to your local hardware store and pick up a low-flow shower head which can reduce your water usage by half. Break in your new purchase by jumping into the shower with a woman or two.

Turn off your T.V.

There is nothing attractive about a couch potato, let alone one who leaves his television on all day. According to research by the Natural Resources Defense Council, one high-definition DVR and one high-definition cable box use an average of 446 kilowatt hours a year, which is approximately 10% more than an energy-efficient refrigerator. (Intrigued? Read more about it here.)Today is a great excuse to unplug your television and challenge your girlfriend to a game of strip poker, or skip the foreplay and head straight back to bed.

Park your Toys

Every time you drive, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and hydrocarbons are released into the atmosphere. According to Colorado Pollution Prevention, 100 carpooling people can prevent 1,320 pounds of carbon monoxide and 2,376,000 pounds of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere in a single year. Keep your toys in the garage for today, and bike, bus or walk wherever you need to go.

Skip the Clothes, Stay Naked

Forgo today’s laundry in the name of saving our environment. A day’s worth of laundry can use up to 40 gallons of water, depending on what make and model of washing machine you have. You may as well strip down to nothing and hang around the house with your significant other.

Eat Local

Foods we purchase from a grocery store, organic or not, usually travel thousands of miles to get to supermarket shelves. Not only is heading to the farmer’s market and buying local a great way to keep the little businesses open, it’s also a great way to minimize your carbon footprint. Surprise your girlfriend with a home cooked local meal for Earth Day, we’re positive you’ll thank us for it later.

Turn off the lights

This one is easy. Turn out your lights and opt for the glow of candlelight. It’s a great way to significantly save energy and money as well. Lighting consumes up to 34 percent of electricity in the United States, so do your part and flick your switch off at least once a day.

Stay in Bed

If you can’t face 24 hours without your television, car and fast food, why not stay in bed? If you think of it, it’s probably the best thing you could do for the environment, and it makes a great excuse to keep your girlfriend cuddled up with you for the day.
