Spring has begun, and what better way to celebrate than to feature the bright and happy spring Playmates of years past? In this Playboy Retro, rejoice in the girls of spring, centerfolds from the spring months shot with the grandeur of awakened nature as their backdrop.

“Comes the dawn, the spring, clad all in gladness, doth laugh at winter's sadness” is how Dawn Richard’s centerfold biography starts; the line is a mangled quote from the Elizabethan poet Thomas Morley, and though they changed the phrasing slightly, it’s poetry that captures the evanescence of Miss May 1957. Besides heralding the change of the seasons in Playboy, Dawn was also an actress with roles in ’50s blockbusters like The Ten Commandments and I Was a Teenage Werewolf. Check her out; she’s a stunner any time of the year.

In 1961 Adrienne Moreau moved from New Jersey to New York to live the NYC dream. She got an apartment off Central Park and pursued a freelance modeling career. She must have been doing something right, because in 1963 she landed the glamorous gig of a lifetime: Playmate of the Month for the March ’63 issue. This blonde babe is as beautiful as the first flowers of spring, a treat for the eyes in every way, but her 38D bust might distract you from the sunny outdoor scenes she’s shot in.

Tall, willowy, gorgeous brunette Marya Carter was a California lover of the water and the beach. When not scuba diving or water-skiing, Marya was an actress with roles in movies such as The Phantom Planet and appearances on classic TV shows like My Favorite Martian and Charlie’s Angels. For us, the most important role she played was Miss May 1962. Take in just how perfectly she performed her star turn in the centerfold.

Shrug off the winter and live life to the fullest with the vivacious girls of spring in the gallery above.
