Think you can't wear sweatshirts? Elliot shows you how.
One question I get asked a lot by fashion-curious bros is how to wear a sweatshirt without looking like you are a busboy, or worse, some "Artisanal Coffee" stroller daddy who just gave up on life.
My response is simple: go classic with a crew neck (no hood, no zip) and choose understated, manly colors/washes like heather grey or navy blue. I like this style from American Apparel, particularly in the "zinc" wash. And don't even get me started on how much fun you can have digging up gems like this on eBay.
The idea is to look collegiate and/or bohemian, not like some schlub who got lost on the way to the gym. Think early photos of the Rolling Stones or Warhol in the mid-1960s. Neat. Neat. Neat.
Bear in mind, I am not barring you from throwing on whatever when you need to pump iron, but if you are going to join the civilized world, you need to please read the below.
Don't wear hoodies. Let me repeat that. Don't wear hoodies. Don't wear zip-ups.
Now that we are vibing together, I'd like to recommend some hot looks that you can easily pull off. The first is to wear a bright polo under your crew neck. Another is to pair your sweatshirt with dark fitted jeans and rich brown shoes, perhaps a chocolate desert boot or a tasseled loafer. You don't want to wear a sweatshirt with sneakers, but you already knew that. High/low makes this work.
As for the fit, make sure the sleeves are not too long and the body isn't too big and sacklike.
Aside from that, do you. Look awesome and make it look easy. Get at me and we can talk! @youngelz
