Doctor Who, possibly the world’s most iconic sci-fi show, celebrates its 50th anniversary this month. We decided to honor this milestone the best way we know how: with a celebration of our favorite women from each Doctor’s tenure on the show. This certainly isn’t a complete list of all the hottest ladies who’ve ever traveled in the TARDIS, so make sure to tell us your favorite companions in the comments.

SARA KINGDOM (JEAN MARSH): The First Doctor was a little before our time, but when we revisited these episodes the babe who immediately jumped out at us was Sara Kingdom, played by Jean Marsh, a badass Space Security Service agent who took on the Daleks while rocking a tight jumpsuit. Check out some classic moments in the fan-made tribute video below.

ZOE HERIOT (WENDY PADBURY): The Second Doctor had a few foxy female companions, but we always crushed most on petite Zoe Heriot (Wendy Padbury). Zoe was a scientist from the 21st century, though she usually rocked Mod style (and the occasional shiny jumpsuit), and even though she was a human she may actually have been cleverer than the Doctor, as she demonstrates in this video:

SARAH JANE SMITH (ELIZABETH SLADEN): One of the Doctor’s most iconic companions, and the only one to get her own spinoff, is journalist Sarah Jane Smith (the late Elizabeth Sladen), who spanned both the Third and Fourth Doctors' eras. In the next video you see Sarah holding her own against the Doctor.

LEELA (LOUISE JAMESON): Leela, short for Leelandredloomsagwinaechegesima, was a warrior woman from a regressed human tribe living on the Doctor’s home planet of Gallifrey. Her skimpy outfit first got our attention, but her badass status (she’s great with her crossbow) is what won our hearts and earned her place on this list.

NYSSA OF TRAKEN (SARAH SUTTON): The first non-human on our list, the bewitching brunette Nyssa (Sarah Sutton) is the last Trakenite, who watched her home planet’s destruction. On her travels with the Fifth Doctor, she began to develop telepathic powers. The video below shows her kiss the Doctor, one of the few times a companion ever does.

PERI BROWN (NICOLA BRYANT): American college student Peri Brown (played by British actress Nicola Bryant) is the next companion to make our list, and let’s be honest: Her love of cleavage-baring outfits didn’t hurt. But she’s more than just a pretty face; a student of botany and amateur archaeologist, in this video she stands up to questioning while the Doctor’s life is at stake.
