Since the year 2000, the world has been treated to seven awesome films about Marvel Comics’ superhero X-Men team. On May 23, the story continues with X-Men: Days of Future Past starring Hugh Jackman, Shawn Ashmore, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence and Ellen Page. The heroines of this action-packed series, aside from kicking ass and taking names, are easy on the eyes too. To rev up for the release we look back at the hottest babes of the X-Men film franchise.
Zoë Kravitz – Angel Salvadore
Even though she has the hippest combination of parents—her mom’s The Cosby Show’s Lisa Bonet and her dad’s rock legend Lenny Kravitz—Zoë is making a name for herself in not only film but music, too. While she was shooting X-Men: First Class she was dating costar Michael Fassbender, 10 years her senior. In the series, Angel Salvadore is a mutant who is working as a go-go dancer when she is approached by Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr. “She starts out on the good side with Professor X and Magneto—they recruit her to be an X-Man, and then she switches to Sebastian Shaw's side to be in Hellfire. I think it's just a different approach to fighting for human equality,” Kravitz told IGN Movies. “Someone compared the two different sides. In this film it's Hellfire and the X-Men, but later it's Xavier and Magneto and someone compared it to Martin Luther King and Malcolm X. They're really fighting for the same thing, but it's different approaches for how to get there. I think she just believes that the aggressive side is the right side.” While she met her demise in 1963, her beauty lets her legacy live on.
Ellen Page – Shadowcat
Ellen Page is one kickass babe in real life and her fierce attitude is something she shares with her onscreen mutant Shadowcat, aka Kitty Pryde, a student at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. Having a relatively small part in X-Men: The Last Stand, she is set to play the tough heroine again in the upcoming film X-Men: Days of Future Past. “I was never really into comic books as a kid. So when the first X-Men popped up it was awesome because that was the first time I read about Kitty Pryde and thought she was awesome and I wanted to do it, obviously,” Page told Collider in a recent interview. “I didn’t expect to play Kitty Pryde again…it was just awesome.”
Fan Bingbing – Blink
Chinese superstar Fan Bingbing is making her X-Men debut as the teleporting mutant Blink. This isn’t her first Marvel film; you may recognize her as Dr. Wu’s assistant in Iron Man 3. While some bloggers suspect that her character will appear in more scenes in the film’s international cut, her beauty has already caught our eye. “It was like pennies from heaven,” Fan explained to CRIEnglish during a press junket in China. “Bryan Singer saw some of my videos and photos and contacted my foreign agent to see more of my clips. They liked my work very much and we talked for about 20 minutes. And that decided my fate in the film.”
Jennifer Lawrence – Mystique
Jennifer Lawrence may be growing tired of her popularity, but we still can’t get enough of her. She’s back in the latest installment to reprise her role as Mystique, the half-naked blue vixen. “That’s not really something that slips a woman’s mind,” Lawrence said in an interview with MTV when asked about strutting around barely dressed on set. “I wasn’t reading the script like, ‘Oh, great!’” With solo X-Men films in the works like Deadpool, we can only hope that we’ll have our own Mystique movie in the future. "I think everyone's a possibility, but I have to admit I do love writing for Jennifer Lawrence," X-Men: Days of Future Past writer Simon Kinberg told MoviePilot.com. "I would write every scene in every movie she does if I could"
January Jones – Emma Frost
She’ll always be Mrs. Don Draper in our hearts, but January Jones did one hell of a job portraying the diamond-skinned villain Emma Frost. Known in the comic book world as a large-breasted, barely clothed babe, Jones hesitated before taking on the role. “The costumes are insane,” Jones said. “It’s a lot of very body-conscious stuff. If you look at the comic book, she’s barely dressed. She’s got quite the bod, which is very intimidating… I’m a petite person, so I didn’t want to go into a strict workout and eating regime. I would have disappeared entirely, and she’s very busty, very voluptuous, so I didn’t want to get rid of any of my curves.” We think January Jones did an excellent portrayal!
Famke Janssen – Jean Grey
If you’re a fan of X-Men, you’re a fan of Famke Janssen, one of the only women to reprise her role in the franchise despite the fact that her character has already died... Just one of the perks of being a mutant. “One never knows. Jean Grey, the Phoenix… she finds a way to reincarnate herself constantly, so one never knows,” Janssen told MTV, remaining evasive as to what her role in the new film will actually be. All she can say is, “stay tuned.”
Halle Berry – Storm
A list of X-Men babes wouldn’t be complete without the one and only Halle Berry. While there was much speculation that Berry’s character, Storm, would be cut down to just one scene in the upcoming film due to her pregnancy, director Bryan Singer took to Twitter to deny the claims and calm fans. Like Janssen, Berry has been around since the first X-Men film in 2000 and has garnered quite the cult following. “Storm probably won’t be as badass as she was going to be because we won’t be able to do any fighting or flying or things like that,” Berry told the BBC. “She’ll be different than we originally planned her to be, but I still think she’ll be an integral part of this new X-Men movie.”
