Recent research indicates that having sex regularly, or even just having sex on the brain, can make you smarter. Dr. Jens Förster, from the University of Amsterdam, gave a number of participants tests that required them to use their critical thinking skills, then quizzed them about their sex lives and how often they think about sex. Those who get it on frequently, and those who think about doing it frequently, did better on the exercises than the test subjects who weren’t as sexed up. A paper delivered at the International Academy of Sex Research’s annual meeting is presenting some startling facts about the dynamics of casual sex. Women are just about as open to one-night stands as men are; however, men reach orgasm 80 percent of the time during hookup sex, whereas women only climax from casual sex 40 percent of the time. Why such a big difference between the sexes? Do ladies come more in relationship sex? Get the juice at Time.com.

In a previous This Week in Sex we covered the surprising statistics about how many men fake orgasms. What are some of the other common fibs guys are spouting in the sack? A new survey asked men what they’ve been lying about in the bedroom: 25.4 percent have said “I love you” during sex and not meant it, while 32.5 percent of guys have faked being in the mood for love. Discover what else men have been stretching the truth about when it comes to love and sex at Huffingtonpost.com.

One of the most famous scenes in cinema is the “fake orgasm scene” from the romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally, where Meg Ryan shows Billy Crystal how easy it is for a woman to fake an orgasm by demonstrating a convincing climax at their lunch table. Improv in Public recreated the scene in real life at Katz Deli where the scene was shot, but they upped the original by having dozens of women break out into orgasms, to the befuddlement and delight of their fellow diners. We’ll have what they’re having!

The glossy women’s and men’s check-out magazines, like Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire and Men’s Health, are notorious for publishing monthly sex tips that no sane person would enjoy. Now 15 of the best (or should we say the worst?) of these howlers have been collected for your enjoyment.

Like this one for the ladies, from Cosmo: “Slip a doughnut around his penis, and slowly eat it off.” Or this winning tip for dudes, from Men’s Health: “If you’re out in public but want to make your intentions clear, slowly and firmly flick your tongue against the palm of her hand. If she just wipes it off down her skirt, you’ve blown it.” Read the rest at Salon.com.
