Miss December 1995 Samantha Torres was the only Playmate ever to be born in Spain when she appeared in the magazine. She was born in Ibiza, also known as the “Spanish party island.” She spent three years at a boarding school in London while growing up, which is where she learned to speak English.
Samantha began her modeling career accidentally. Two years before appearing in Playboy, her friends entered her into a beauty contest on Ibiza. She ended up winning the competition and eventually became Miss Spain. Her pageant crown opened doors for her and led to a successful modeling career. She was one of the most successful in Europe before her Playmate centerfold. After becoming Miss December she also graced the April 1996 cover of Playboy.
After appearing in Playboy she began her acting career. She previously worked behind the scenes on 8 Seconds and Tammy and the T-Rex. She took part in a couple films for Playboy as well. She then landed small roles in Gia alongside Angelina Jolie and Shadow of Doubt with Melanie Griffith and Tom Berenger. She appeared in two TV shows, Suddenly Susan and Camino de Santiago, before taking a break from acting.
Samantha returned to the entertainment business in 2011 as a casting director on the Nicaraguan TV show Contracorriente. She also served as the second-unit director for the show.
Like many Playmates, Samantha was involved in some notable romantic affairs. She began a relationship with pop singer Enrique Iglesias in 1999 after meeting him on his South American tour. They broke up after a year. She then began dating actor Dean Cain. Cain and Samantha had one child together, Christopher. Their relationship ended, but they shared custody of their son. In 2011 Samantha became a mother again, this time to a pair of twins, Elijah and Isabelle.
Although she spends most of her time in the United States now, Samantha still has a sweet spot for her native Spain. She describes Ibiza as “magical” and says there’s never a dull moment when she’s there. She also prefers the men there as well. She says, “Spanish men are so special because they’re strong and never boring.”
