About Shannon James
Meet Shannon James, Playboy’s Miss May 2007. She’s from a small town called Holland in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. (Miss November 2001 Lindsey Vuolo grew up nearby). Shannon is the baby of her family, with two older sisters. As a child she craved the spotlight, playing dress-up and performing for anyone who would watch. In high school she packed her schedule with dance lessons, singing, cheerleading, community service, acting, and modeling.
Shannon studied marketing at the University of Central Florida, and she had a summer job working as a Hooters girl. “I had done a couple of bikini contests,” she told Playboy, “and my best friend sent the pictures to Howard’s show.”
At first Shannon had reservations about being on the Howard Stern Show. “Sometimes they tear people apart,” she said. “I was scared. But then they told me Playboy Senior Photo Editor Kevin Kuster was going to be there. I had to take a chance.”
It worked out in her favor, when Kevin invited Shannon to do a test shoot in Chicago. “I couldn’t believe it,” she said. “Playboy is a living piece of American history, and I’m so proud to be a part of it.”
In order to continue her education and travel for Playboy, Shannon decided to finish her marketing degree online. She is a successful model in Philadelphia, and she promotes Playboy at events across the country. She’s fit and toned and is serious about diet and exercise. “I work out every day,” she said. “It’s a great stress reliever, and it makes me feel so good.” Her efforts were rewarded with the July 2012 cover of Muscle and Fitness.
Shannon has a warm and sunny disposition, but she describes herself as a good girl with a wild side. “I’m such a nerd,” she told Playboy. “I love to cuddle up with a good book, and I have a huge collection of poetry I’ve written. At the same time, I’m always game for staying up until 4:00 in the morning or going to a party with my girlfriends in Old City in Philly, where we attract a good amount of attention.”
