In Southern California, Garys has laid its claim as the premier men's store and for good reason. Beyond the vast spread of products and the massive, 17,000-square-foot setting, the not-so-secret weapon is an educated, experienced staff that knows its clothes and its customers' needs. Most employees have been with Garys for at least a decade. Merchandising GM Steve Ramenofsky says: "Unless someone retires, our staff is here to stay." Entering its 41st year and now owned by the Braeger family, the ever-expanding Garys stocks everything from Prada to Etro, and all in countless sizes. If you need it, Ramenofsky stocks it. "If someone enters our store in the market for clothes, it's very difficult for them not to find what they are looking for," he says.
