Owner Mario Bisio takes great pride in understanding the customers who frequent his pristine Portland store. "We know that people may have the money, but sometimes they just don't have the time," he says. "They come in and expect knowledgeable salespeople who know what questions to ask." On the other hand, if you have a little time to spare, an associate will get you a cocktail, a tailored suit and a dinner reservation at a local restaurant -- though not necessarily in that order. Bisio, whose father started the company in 1937, appreciates and seeks out loyal, lifelong customers. For this reason, he has been carrying a wide range of fashion, from younger brands like Diesel to top-level formalwear. "Today he is buying a Hugo Boss," Bisio says, "but in 20 years, when he is a CEO, he is buying Kiton. That's why we have both." As you can tell, Mario's is in it for the long haul.
