What began in 1958 as a small shop run by Ed and Norma Mitchell has grown into a $90 million business in a brilliant 35,000-square-foot monument to fine clothing. Mitchells is now in its third generation with grandsons Bob and Russ at the helm. They've continued the tradition that their father Jack taught them in his book Hug Your Customers (www.hugyourcustomers.com): Personal touch will keep the people coming back. Outcalls are routine for Mitchells' experienced employees. From closet cleaning to in-home (or in-office) fittings, there are few services the store does not offer. A Mitchells associate will even photograph suit, shirt and tie combos to make sure that while he (or she) is on the road, his customer still matches well. If you still prefer a visit to their opulent store, don't worry about a babysitter -- there's an area set aside for kids to play while Mom and Dad sort through today's best fashions.
