Less than an hour after his flight lands at Salt Lake City International Airport, the savvy powderhound is floating through the fluff at Park City Mountain Resort. He's arcing wide GS turns on CB's Run, the same trail that saw Bode Miller steal the silver at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. Then it's onto the expert trees off McConkey's lift before crossing over into Jupiter Bowl and Scott's Bowl for short hikes to waist-deep snow, or dropping into the 22-foot superpipe. Park City is not only one of the most easily accessed areas in the country, but also one of the most diverse, as it yawns across 3,300 acres with terrain to suit every taste, from long, rookie-friendly groomers and top-rated freestyle parks to steep backcountry drops in nine separate bowls. Glittering at the base of it all is Main Street, home to the Sundance Film Festival and 100-plus bars and restaurants. For some of the closest digs to both the lifts and the nightlife, sliders will now stay at The Sky Lodge, a boutique hotel and spa opening on Main Street in December 2007.

Must ski: Ride the Payday, Bonanza and Jupiter lifts and hike along Pinecone Ridge to untouched Half Moon, Quarter Moon and New Moon; you'll have them to yourself.

Must après-ski: Think O's -- O'Shucks Bar & Grill for peanut shells on the floor and big mugs of beer, and Harry O's for live music along the lines of L.L. Cool J and Sammy Hagar. There's also Cisero's, an Italian restaurant/nightclub where DJ's regularly spin tracks.
