The Taste

Summer heat begs for certain kinds of drinks: cold, refreshing, not too sweet. Some beers and white wines meet the criteria, but tequila's even better, because it pairs so well with citrus. Want alcoholic forms of Gatorade and lemonade? Try a margarita (add Triple Sec and lime juice), a tequila sour (add lemon juice and sugar) or a paloma (add grapefruit soda and lime juice). Now, with the launch of 1800 100-Proof Silver Tequila, your power drink can be even more powerful.

1800 Silver is one of the first 100-proof tequilas on the market (Don Fulano offers one too). Normally, that would mean you taste more alcohol, but the 1800 is made from 100 percent agave (no impurities). It may actually go better with certain mixers because it is a silver tequila -- aged no longer than 60 days in stainless steel tanks. No wood, caramel or vanilla to compete with the other flavors, and surprisingly smooth for "overproof" anything.

It's also got one other distinction: The stopper functions as a shot glass. It's not a particularly handy one, but it works. You can turn the bottle upside down and let the cap fill up with booze and then, carefully, remove the cap (spilling some precious fluid, no doubt). It's a gimmick, for sure, but hey, it's better than having your friends drink straight from the bottle.
