Talk about lust at first sight. The 2008 Vette convertible has some of the sexiest curves this side of the Playmate of the Year. Our tester came with a premium jetstream blue metallic paint job that is appropriately flashy for a ride that simply demands attention. Five-spoke polished aluminum wheels, quad center-mounted exhaust pipes, low-slung race-car profile -- the Vette is quite simply the hottest American sports car on the road. And it only looks better topless.

The 4LT premium equipment group doesn't come cheap ($8,600), but if you're opting for the convertible, luxury matters almost as much as performance. Added creature comforts include a Bose audio setup, heated seats, a power convertible top, the jet-fighter-inspired head-up speedometer/tachometer display and abundant leather upgrades. DVD nav is yet another option ($1,750), causing our tester's price to bulge like the Vette's hood.

Acceleration is instant and jaw-dropping. The all-new LS3 6.2L V-8 churns out 430 horsepower and 424-lb.-ft of torque. With a 0-60 time of 4.3 ticks, the shift-speed paddle LS3 engine makes this the fastest automatic Vette ever. The optional magnetic selective ride control ($1,995) lets drivers choose between tour and sport settings, and includes larger cross-drilled brake rotors to keep you out of ditches. Bottom line: This car is an amusement park on wheels.
