We were fond of the G35 coupe. Considering a price tag in excess of 40K, our expectations were high for the completely retooled G37 Sport. Infiniti enhanced the sweeping curves of the hood in just the right way and carved out aerodynamic side sills along the doors. Touches like 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels (part of the Sport package), dual chrome exhaust finishers and an optional rear spoiler jacked the curb appeal of our liquid platinum graphite (a.k.a. silver) machine right off the charts.

Slide into the G37, and you might forget you're in a sports car. Super-comfortable, leather-appointed front driver and passenger sport seats, elegant brushed aluminum trim on the center console and a throwback analog clock in the center of the dash lend an air of sophistication. Our tester's premium package included a power moon roof, upgraded Bose audio system, power everything and heated seats. If you're built more like an NBA star than a soccer player, headroom might be an issue, and the cramped rear seats are better suited for a golf bag than a human being. The push-button ignition and leather-trimmed stick shifts are the most obvious nods to the power under the hood.

Infiniti upped the ponies on the rear-wheel-drive G37 to 330 horsepower with 270 ft-lb of torque. The short-throw six-speed manual is a breeze to shift. The V6 pulled strong and steady through all gears, with none of that peak-and-valley acceleration you often get in four-cylinder "sport" trim wannabes. Sport-tuned suspension and four-wheel active steer kept the car firm and balanced on curves. Bottom line: It's a flat-out blast to drive.
